Prof Takayuki Mori is Chairman of the Japan Physical Internet Center (JPIC) and Professor Emeritus at the University of Marketing and Distribution Sciences (UMDS) in Kobe. A graduate of Osaka City University, he built a distinguished 30-year career at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), where he led global logistics operations and served as Managing Director of AMT Freight GmbH in Germany. Joining UMDS in 2006, he advanced logistics education and research until his emeritus appointment in 2021. Since 2016, he has also lectured at Mae Fah Luang University in Thailand. A prominent leader in ISO standardization, Prof Mori chairs Japan’s ISO315 National Committee and contributes to numerous national and industry councils, including the Ministry of Trade’s Physical Internet Realization Conference and the Osaka World Expo Transport Council. Widely published, his influential books —such as Logistics and SDGs and The Fundamentals of Modern Logistics and Introduction to Ocean Shipping — continue to influence Japan’s logistics innovation and education.
